Amichien Bonding is a technique developed by Jan Fennell,
author of several best selling books, the most popular one being 'The Dog Listener'.
Amichien Bonding doesn't use harsh methods or gadgets, there
is no need to raise your voice at your dog, and therefore you and your dog remain calm.
This method was devised by Jan after she had seen Monty Roberts
- The Horse Whisperer. She was so impressed by his method and thought there must be some way of transposing it onto dogs.
Jan had long felt that the training methods she and countless others were using were at times very harsh to the dogs and had
wished for a kinder way to train her dogs.
Jan spent a long time studying wild animals, in particular,
wolves - cousins to our present day domestic dogs. She saw how wolves live in packs and the importance of the pack for it's
members survival. Every pack has a leading pair, the Alpha male and the Alpha female and it is this pair that make all the
decisions within the pack, enabling survival through their behaviour and the heirarchy of the pack.
Our dogs have the same instinct as their wolf cousins, they
need a leader they can trust in order to survive, and if we do not give them clear signals, they will think that we are not
up to the job and will take the role on themselves, and this is where problems can arise.
Amichien Bonding allows you to communicate with your dog in
his 'language', in terms he understands. It will take time and patience, but with perseverance it will eventually become a
way of life and the rewards you will reap will allow for a happier, calmer existence for both you and your dog
